JBLM SPC. Scores 5th in Air Rifle at Warrior Games
The Warrior Games took place in Chicago for the past two weeks and wrapped up on Saturday.

Specialist Maria Garcia had a great showing in her 10m Air Rifle Prone SH1 group at the Warrior Games in Chicago. Representing Joint Base Lewis-McChord and Team Army, Garcia took 5th place after qualifying over dozens of competitors to make it to the medal round. On July 7th, the Air Rifle Prone groups wrapped up and Garcia solidified her 5th place spot.

Per the Warrior Games, to be in the SH1 Classification, an individual has:

  • Spinal Cord Injury with the loss of motor or sensory function in lower extremities.

  • Single or bilateral amputations in lower extremities.

  • A combination of at least 40% loss of strength or flexibility in the ankle, knee, or hip joints.

  • Spasticity Grade 2-3 Ashworth Scale lower extremities / Poor lower extremities coordination.

 

The Department of Defense Warrior Games lasted from June 30th to July 8th in Chicago, Illinois. Next year’s event will take place at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs.
