Rainiers Salute to Armed Forces

This Sunday the is the Tacoma Rainiers Salute to Armed Forces Day. The game kicks off at 1:35 pm, and the players and coaches are wearing specialty merch that will be sold in a silent auction during the game. Fore R Troops Golf

Get your clubs out, it’s the golfing season. On June 9th, the AUSA is hosting the Fore R Troops golfing tournament for the military community at JBLM and Camp Murray. The event takes place at Eagles Pride Golf course, open to individuals and teams and closes up with a dinner and prizes. The Air Force Association will host another golf tournament on the 23rd at Eagle Pride. Sign up here.

JBLM Volunteer of the Month

Private James Bates, 2nd Battalion, 17th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, joined the military to serve his country, but he’s also looking forward to the advantages his service will provide toward a future career in music. In the meantime, he’s enjoying the opportunities to volunteer. Bates volunteers with JBLM’s Better Opportunities for Single Service members program. In his spare time he’s a heavy metal rocker. Qatar Rift 

Air Force Secretary Heather Wilson said Monday that a diplomatic split between Qatar and four other Arab nations won't affect the war against the Islamic State and other U.S. operations. Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Egypt and Bahrain on Monday cut ties with Qatar over its support of militant groups aligned with Iran.

No More ABUs

Chief Master Seargant of the Air Force Kaleth Wright said at a recent all-call that the FY17 Uniform Board is recommending the Air Force switch from ABUs to OCPs for their daily uniform. He also said they are trying to eliminate E1-E3 EPRs, reduce annual award bullets from 30 to 12.
