POW/MIA & Gold Star Mothers and Families

In September we take 2 dates to recognize the sacrifice that far too many of our Patriots have made in their time serving.

Observe POW/MIA Recognition Day and Gold Star Mothers and Families Day this September.

The third Friday of every September is National POW/MIA Recognition Day in the United

States. On this day those who are missing in action or have been prisoners of war take the

forefront of our minds. The JBLM community recognizes these heroes and their families in

a week-long remembrance week.

Capitol Campus in Olympia.

On the last Sunday of every September, we recognize Gold Star Mothers and Families

Day. The American Gold Star Mothers is an organization of mothers who've lost their

sons or daughters to the perils of war and conflict. Since 1936, we've taken this day to

expresses our love, sorrow, and reverence for Gold Star Mothers and their families.

The final Sunday in September this year is the 24th. Mark your calendar and take some time

that day to put them in your thoughts.
