Military Minute - August 29th
The WAMilitary Minute gives you 4 of the latest and greatest stories from our military world every Tuesday and Thursday. Today's briefing covers more North Korea drama, a new magazine in the Air Force, Rock and Rally for the Troops, and an upcoming picnic for our veteran community.

North Korea fires ballistic missile over Japan

North Korea fired a ballistic missile from its capital Pyongyang that flew over Japan before plunging into the northern Pacific Ocean, officials said Tuesday. The test-flight over the territory of a close U.S. ally sends a clear message of defiance as Washington and Seoul conduct war games nearby.

Seoul’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said the missile traveled around 2,700 kilometers (1,677 miles) and reached a maximum height of 550 kilometers (341 miles) as it flew over the northern Japanese island of Hokkaido. The launch, which appears to be the first to cross over Japan since 2009, will rattle a region worried that each new missile test puts the North a step closer toward its goal of an arsenal of nuclear missiles that can reliably target the United States. It appeared to be the North’s longest-ever missile test, but South Korean officials couldn’t immediately confirm.

Air Force Follows Marine Corps And SOCOM In Adopting The Formidable PMAG

The PMAG will replace the magazine currently used by the Air Force — the Enhanced Performance Magazine — through “attrition”: broken or defective magazines will neither be fixed nor swapped out for new ones, but rather discarded as the PMAG is phased in.

The PMAG has been the magazine of choice for many within the Special Operations community since it first rolled off the assembly line in 2007. And for good reason: rugged and dependable, the PMAG has proven to be one of the best — if not the best — magazines for the AR15/M4 platforms.

Rock and Rally

Seattle's Rock Station presents the 7th Annual "Rock & Rally for the Troops" - a Fundraising event in Tacoma, WA. The event will benefit wounded service members, their loved ones as well as those that aid in their recovery through the programs of Operation Ward 57, a non-profit that supports wounded warriors.

This event will consist of a Motorcycle Run sponsored by Brothers In Arms MC. Following the MC Run will be an outdoor concert event featuring some of the best musical talent in the nation.
